A 56-year-old man from Moray who went missing in Rome on the first night of his holiday has been found, according to his family.

Colin Ross had just arrived in the Italian capital with partner Anabella Mcallister, when he disappeared up a side street near the Pantheon at about 22:00 on Friday evening.

Posting on social media, Mcallister said Ross, from Elgin, had become unsteady due to his medication and the heat, and did not have his phone or wallet with him.

His daughter later told STV News that he’d been found injured “walking around in the street” but “somehow made it back”.

After Ross went missing, Mcallister said online that “he was in a bit of an unsteady state due to medication and heat.”

She added that as she stopped to take a photograph, her fiancé went up a side street and by the time she had followed him he had disappeared.

Earlier, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office said it was supporting the family of a British man missing in Italy and was in touch with the local authorities.

BBC Scotland News has contacted Italy’s state police for comment.
